Minnie Mouse helps Brynn turn TWO...

On February 28, my lovely (stubborn) daughter turned the Big Two. With her big day falling on a Monday and school day for me, we held off her party until the following Saturday. Even though her party was postponed, we still attempted to make the day special. I woke her up to the "Happy Birthday" song, only to get told, "No, daddy, it is my Birthday!" She had a hard time understanding that I was singing to her, not trying to steal her thunder.

Sarah made Brynn's favorite breakfast of pancakes. Luckily, it was a sunny day in Chengdu, and Sarah and Brynn got to spend the morning playing outside. Once I got off work, we went over to the Brewers for supper. Zack and Kira made us Chili and surprised Brynn with Rice Krispy Treats for dessert. It was a great birthday for Brynn.

On Saturday, we held Brynn's Minnie Mouse themed birthday party. Thanks to our Chinese tutor, we were able to order the decorations from a Chinese website. Some of Brynn's friends were able to attend and make the day extra special. Here are some of the highlights...

Brynn informing us that she is now 2! She can't grasp the one-hand approach to her numbers!

Thanks to Tammi Yost for this lovely and delicious cake!

Visit to Qingdao...

Last week Matt took his Model United Nations class to Qingdao, China for a conference. Brynn and I got to tag along. Qingdao is a beautiful city on the coast of China. Brynn and I were excited to spend some time with our friend's, Melissa and Esther. Esther is four months younger than Brynn and they met at our training this summer. The two girls had the best time playing. They were so cute. I wish I had my camera, but of course I forgot it when we went out.

Brynn on her way to the MUN Banquet. We were treated to an international buffet, magician, jazz band, rock band and guest speaker from the Korean consulate.

Brynn jammed out to the jazz band. I think more people watched her dance and sing than the actual band! She stole the show!

On the last day, Brynn visited a Chinese indoor playground. There were tons of children, but Brynn jumped right into the action.
